Neuberg (also Neuberk) is a ruins of castle in Podhradí, Cheb District in the Karlovy Vary Region of the Czech Republic. == History == A castle was built by Neuberg, probably in late 13th century, but first mentioned was in 1288. In that year, after Albrech von Neuberg death, emperor Rudolph I of Bohemia handed Neuberg and whole village to lords of Plauen, as a fief. Later, castle was damaged by armada of Charles IV, because a bandits live here. In 1392, village and castle was inherited by Zedtwitz, and became a centre of whole Aš-region. After big fire in 1610, a castle was seriously damaged. Family of Zedwitz fall apart, and individual stems moving to new chateaus in Aš, Kopaniny, Doubrava, Smrčina and two chateas in Podhradí. From this moment, castle left uninhabited. In this days exist a 22 metres high castle tower only. Local council make efforts to save it, but, because of bad financial situation is a big problem.
